Sufism Started in Baghdad and spread to Persia, India, North Africa, and Spain. Another feature of Sudanese dervish is the wearing of beads. The dervish elder pictured here has 1,000 beads wrapped around his neck – quite weight to carry.
The mausoleum in Omdurman belongs to one of 19th century Qadiriyyah Leaders, which is Hamad Al Nil.
Every Friday dervish gather an hour before sunset around of the big mosques in Hamad Al Nil in Omdurman. A circle is performed and the ritual begins.
